Pastor Q Kim
Kyu (Q) Kim was born on August 16, 1961 in Korea, whereupon he and his family immigrated to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1975. He attended Carnegie-Mellon University as an electrical engineering student. It was during his undergraduate years at CMU that he met the Lord in a radical and life-changing way. Shortly after, in July of 1981, he felt the call of God to ministry. He finished his undergraduate studies in philosophy at the University of Pittsburgh. Pastor Q received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and later studied at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Over the past 23 years he has served as a children’s pastor, youth pastor, campus ministry founder, Christian educational specialist, EM pastor, KM pastor, senior pastor, and evangelist.
In May of 1985, he met Joy and married her two months later. He has been happily and Joy-fully married for over 20 years. He is now the father of three awesome daughters (Anna, Amy, and Abby).
Pastor Q currently serves as the head pastor of H.O.P.E. (House of Prayer for Everyone) Church in Takoma Park, MD. His desire is to live as a lover of God and his passion is to see a generation of youth single-mindedly in love with Jesus Christ.
Pastor Mimi Kim
Mimi Kim recently joined us as our associate pastor. Born on May 9, 1972 in Seoul, she and her family immigrated to the United States later that year when she was only 6 months old. She grew up in the church, being very active in her youth group, college group, and education ministry. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a BA in Government and Politics. Having discerned God’s call on her life to ministry, she moved to Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada to attend Regent College, an international graduate school of Christian studies. Here she studied under J.I. Packer, Eugene Peterson, Gordon Fee, and many others. Pastor Mimi received her Master of Divinity from Regent in 2001. Upon graduation, she moved to Seattle, WA where she served as a Youth and Education Pastor for 6 years. She was ordained as a minister by the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2004.
Pastor Mimi first met Hoon, her husband-to-be, at a college summer retreat in 1992. Then they met again 3 years later and were married in 1996. They have been blessed with precious twin daughters Emma and Madelyn.
Serving here at H.O.P.E. Church, Pastor Mimi is excited about being part of such a diverse worshipping community. Her prayer is to know God’s compassionate and merciful heart for His people and to be set apart for Him alone.
